Job summary

Hickory is expanding its IT landscape across a growing portfolio of residential HVAC brands in the Northeast. The IT Manager will own day-to-day IT operations, manage infrastructure, and lead migrations to standardized platforms while ensuring reliability, security, and scalability.

You will partner with the IT Director, administer Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, oversee DNS and email authentication, and coordinate with Network Doctor on external support, with travel about one week per month

Qualifications

• 4+ years in IT operations, systems administration, or IT management.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace administration.
• Working knowledge of DNS, domains, email authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC), and VoIP systems.
• Experience managing network infrastructure — switches, firewalls, wireless, VPN.
• Experience leading internal migrations and infrastructure upgrades end-to-end.
• Strong documentation habits and ability to write clear SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day IT operations across Hickory's brands — network, endpoints, SaaS, and user support.
• Lead internal migrations — moving brands onto standardized platforms, cleaning up legacy systems, and improving email deliverability and domain hygiene.
• Administer Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace across multiple brands.
• Manage DNS, domain registrars, email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and VoIP systems.
• Partner with our managed service provider (Network Doctor) and manage the transition toward more in-house IT capability over time.
• Build and maintain documentation, SOPs, and runbooks that make the IT function more scalable.
• Support new brand integrations as needed alongside our IT Integration Manager; travel ~1 week per month.

The Role

As we scale our portfolio of residential HVAC brands, we need someone to own the internal IT function across our growing family of companies. This role sits at the intersection of day-to-day IT operations and strategic infrastructure improvement — keeping existing brands running cleanly while driving the migrations and system upgrades that set us up for the next phase of growth.

The IT Manager will be the primary technical resource for our portfolio of brands, partnering closely with our IT Director to manage infrastructure, administer systems, and lead internal migrations that improve reliability, security, and operational efficiency across the business.

What success looks like: brands running on clean, standardized infrastructure, migrations executed without disruption, and an IT environment that scales as we grow.

What You'll Do

• Own day-to-day IT operations across Hickory's portfolio of brands — network infrastructure, endpoint management, SaaS administration, and user support

• Administer Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments across multiple brands
• Manage DNS, domain registrars, email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and VoIP systems
• Partner with our managed service provider (Network Doctor) and manage the transition toward more in-house IT capability over time
• Build and maintain documentation, SOPs, and runbooks that make the IT function more scalable and less dependent on any one person
• Support new brand integrations as needed alongside our IT Integration Manager
• Travel roughly one week per month throughout the tri-state area to support brands on-site

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years in IT operations, systems administration, or IT management
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace administration
• Working knowledge of DNS, domains, email authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC), and VoIP systems
• Experience managing network infrastructure — switches, firewalls, wireless, VPN
• Comfortable owning migrations and infrastructure upgrades end-to-end
• Strong documentation habits — you write things down so others can follow
• Calm under pressure, comfortable with ambiguity, and self-directed
• Active user of AI tools in your day-to-day workflow
• Travel: ~1 week/month within the Northeast by car
