Job summary

Thea Energy, Inc. is seeking a motivated IT Intern to join our IT team.

You will gain hands-on experience in day-to-day IT operations, troubleshooting hardware and software, and supporting internal projects in a fast growing energy tech startup. This internship is ideal for current students or recent graduates pursuing IT support, systems administration, or network engineering, offering practical training with laptops, AD, and cloud tools.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently completed degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems and core networking concepts.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain tech issues to non technical users.
  • Reliability and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Help Desk Support: triage, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for local and remote employees.
  • Device management: configure, deploy, and maintain company laptops, workstations, and peripherals.
  • Software and account setup: assist with user onboarding and offboarding in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Active Directory, and other tools.
  • Documentation: create and update internal IT guides and troubleshooting docs.
  • Inventory tracking: maintain accurate inventory of hardware, software licenses, and peripherals.
  • Project assistance: support IT infrastructure projects such as migrations, upgrades, or security audits.

About Thea Energy

Thea Energy is leveraging recent breakthroughs in stellarator physics and engineering to create a faster and simpler approach to commercializing fusion energy. The company is reinventing the stellarator using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils thereby replacing the intricate, complex modular magnets required in all other stellarator architectures. Thea Energy is on a mission to create a limitless source of zero emission energy for a sustainable future.

Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated, tech-savvy IT Intern to join our IT team. In this role, you will get hands‑on experience dealing with day‑to‑day IT operations, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and assisting with internal projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a current student or recent graduate looking to jumpstart their career in IT support, systems administration, or network engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help Desk Support: Assist with initial triage, troubleshooting, and resolution of hardware, software, and network issues for local and remote employees.
  • Device Management: Help configure, deploy, and maintain company laptops, workstations, printers, etc.
  • Software & Account Setup: Assist with user onboarding and offboarding, including setting up accounts in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Active Directory, or other internal tools.
  • Documentation: Create and update internal IT guides, FAQs, and troubleshooting documentation for employees.
  • Inventory Tracking: Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware, software licenses, and peripheral equipment.
  • Project Assistance: Provide support on upcoming IT infrastructure projects (e.g., system migrations, network upgrades, or security audits).
Ideal Experience & Skillsets
  • Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/certification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of desktop operating systems (Windows 10/11, macOS) and core networking concepts (IP addressing, Wi‑Fi troubleshooting, DNS).
  • Problem‑Solving Skills: A logical approach to troubleshooting and a strong desire to figure out how things work.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical fixes to non‑technical users in a friendly, patient manner.
  • Reliability: Ability to handle sensitive company data with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Requirements
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.
