Job summary

Year Up United seeks an Information Technology Instructor I to lead IT courses for large classes, delivering interactive, project-based learning and mentoring urban young adults. You will guide students toward independent study, collaborate with peers to refine the curriculum, and track outcomes for internship placements.

The role emphasizes professional behavior coaching, cross-team collaboration, and commitment to Year Up United’s mission and diversity goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field is required.
Master’s degree is preferred.
1–3 years of experience as an educator is required; teaching urban youth is a plus.
Experience teaching or advising urban youth is preferred.
Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is required; Brightspace preferred.

Responsibilities

Instruct Information Technology courses for about 50 students daily using up-to-date IT/Excel hardware and networking content.
Lead project-based learning experiences, guiding students through application, critical thinking and collaboration.
Provide one-on-one coaching and support outside class time.
Maintain classroom management following Year Up United policies and behavior models.
Collaborate with other instructors to refine and document IT curriculum.
Assess student learning and growth, using tools to monitor progress and internship transitions.
