Job summary

NYC Financial Information Services Agency–Office of Payroll Administration seeks an IT Infrastructure Engineer to administer WebSphere and middleware in production for HR/Payroll systems. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and maintaining WebSphere, MQ, and Cognos on Linux/UNIX, plus CI/CD tooling.

The role requires strong DevOps experience, source control with Git, and automation with Ansible, with after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/engineering and 4+ years in data center or IT infra.
• Alternatively, 8+ years in data center/infra without a degree.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and administer IBM WebSphere Application Server.
• Support WebSphere Traditional and WebSphere Liberty on Linux/UNIX.
• Manage server configurations in server.xml, bootstrap.properties, and jvm.options.
• Use Git for source control and Ansible for deployments.
• Support CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and CloudBees.
• Administer middleware like IBM MQ, IBM HTTP Server, WebSphere Message Broker, Oracle WebLogic, and Cognos.
• Perform upgrades, patching, and root-cause analysis.
• Operate in a large-scale enterprise with 24/7 coverage including nights/weekends.
