Job description

The IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the hands‑on operation, maintenance, and support of the company’s core infrastructure across all sites, including Cisco network switching, physical and virtual servers, Microsoft 365 administration, and domain services. This role executes infrastructure projects and day‑to‑day tasks across a broad range of technologies and is ideal for someone who likes variety, solving real problems, and seeing the impact of their work across the organization. The position includes approximately 20% travel between company sites and participation in scheduled maintenance windows, which may occur during evenings and weekends.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Networking and Connectivity
  • Configure and make changes to Cisco network switches, including switchport configuration, VLAN assignment, and port‑level changes, as directed.
  • Support wired and wireless network connectivity across all company sites.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and elevate to senior leaders, vendors, or carriers when needed.
  • Maintain network documentation, including diagrams, port maps, and configuration records.
Server Infrastructure (Physical and Virtual)
  • Install, configure, and maintain physical servers and supporting hardware.
  • Administer virtual server environments running VMware and Hyper‑V, including provisioning, patching, and routine maintenance.
  • Perform firmware and operating system updates and monitor server health and capacity.
  • Assist with backup, recovery, and business‑continuity tasks for server workloads.
Microsoft 365 and Domain Services
  • Administer Microsoft 365, including user accounts, licensing, groups, distribution lists, and core services such as Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint/OneDrive.
  • Manage domain services, including Active Directory user and computer accounts, group policy, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Perform user onboarding and offboarding, including account creation, access changes, and deprovisioning.
  • Apply established security and compliance configurations as directed.
Multi‑Site Support and Maintenance
  • Travel to company sites (approximately 20% of the time) to perform installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and on‑site support.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance during approved maintenance windows, including evenings and weekends.
  • Coordinate site work with local staff and senior leaders to minimize disruption.
General IT Operations
  • Respond to escalated infrastructure support requests and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
  • Assist with implementing new technologies and infrastructure improvements as directed by senior leaders.
  • Work with vendors on hardware, software, licensing, and support matters.
  • Perform other infrastructure and IT‑related duties as assigned.
Experience and/or Educational Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Some hands‑on experience or training with network switching, including basic switchport and VLAN configuration (Cisco experience a plus).
  • Exposure to physical and/or virtual server administration; familiarity with VMware or Hyper‑V a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Familiarity with domain services such as Active Directory, group policy, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills and a willingness to learn across networking, servers, and end‑user systems.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and to document systems and configurations clearly.
  • Willingness to travel between company sites (approximately 20%) and to work evenings and weekends for scheduled maintenance.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to all company locations.
