Job summary

CACI International in Colorado Springs is seeking an IT Hardware Engineer to support the DIA CIS program, designing, integrating, and validating IT hardware and software solutions for highly secure environments. You will analyze requirements, architectures, and concepts of operations to produce detailed infrastructure designs and test artifacts.

This role requires TS/SCI with poly, DoD 8140 Security+ or higher, and a strong track record in hardware engineering.

Qualifications

  • Top Secret SCI clearance with polygraph required.
  • DOD 8140 certification applicable to role (Security+ minimum).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Operations teams and Government stakeholders to refine requirements and ensure objectives are achievable.
  • Research optimal design characteristics and conduct AoAs for informed decision-making on tech and services.
  • Incorporate capacity, performance, and other service-level metrics into designs for optimal user experience.
  • Produce engineering and design artifacts, test cases, and supporting documentation, incl. CONOPS; may provide team leadership.
  • Research new technologies and capabilities and articulate benefits of integration into current infrastructure ecosystems.
  • Use lab facilities to promote experimentation and feasibility of designs and technologies.
  • Develop test cases and scripts for unit and system tests; ensure complete test coverage before deployment.
  • Provide support to operations during acceptance testing, blue/green deployment, and early production use.

The Opportunity

The CIS program supports our intelligence customer deliver IT services to conduct its globally distributed operations. We are driving an exciting technological transformation of customer IT services by leading the design, development, implementation, and operation of cutting-edge solutions. This includes continuous service improvement through the modernization of IT system infrastructure.

CACI is looking for an experienced, innovative, and motivated Hardware Engineer to support the mission objectives and needs of the customer, the Defense Intelligence Agency. In this role you will analyze requirements, concepts of operations, and system architectures to create detailed infrastructure designs for refresh of customer technologies in line with program vision and objectives.

The position is contingent upon award of the DIA SITE III CIO Infrastructure Services (CIS) contract.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Operations teams and Government stakeholders to refine requirements and ensure availability, reliability, resiliency, and operability objectives are well understood and achievable
  • Research optimal design characteristics and conducts Analyses of Alternatives (AoAs) for objective, informed decision-making on technology and service options, feasibility studies, and proofs of concepts
  • Incorporate capacity, performance, and other service-level metrics into designs for optimal user experience and infrastructure utilization
  • Work in small teams or independently to produce engineering and design artifacts, test cases, training materials, and supporting documentation, including CONOPS; may provide team leadership or guidance
  • Research new technologies and capabilities, analyzes and articulates to stakeholders the benefits of integration into current infrastructure ecosystems, and conducts objective AoA and tradeoff decisions as a key member of Continual Service Improvement (CSI) and innovation activities
  • Use lab facilities to promote experimentation, investigation, and feasibility of designs and technologies
  • Develop test cases and scripts for unit and system tests for all designs and configurations; uses lab facilities to ensure complete test coverage and positive outcomes before readying components for deployment
  • Support transfer of engineered solutions to Operations teams throughout acceptance testing, Blue/Green fielding, and early production use to smooth operations during initial use
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing services to Operations teams for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) components within areas of desktop solutions experience
  • Develop Tech Refresh strategy for assessment and planning, vendor evaluation and procurement, implementation and deployment, governance and oversight, compliance, and risk management executed in the phased approach
  • Provide support of engineering services from engineering to operations transition
Qualifications
Required
  • Must hold a current Top Secret SCI clearance with ability to obtain poly prior to start
  • DOD 8140 Certification applicable to role (minimum Security+)
  • An AA and 14+ years of experience, BS/BA and 12+ years of experience, MS/MA and 10+ years of experience, or PhD and 8+ years of experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on experience designing, integrating, validating, and implementing IT hardware and software solutions
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with team members on technical and non‑technical issues
  • Willingness to learn new skills and new technologies.
Desired
  • Degree in Science, Technology, or Engineering
  • Familiarity with IC ITE services and classified environments
  • Familiarity with Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) or evaluating new storage technologies
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$90,300-$189,600
