Job summary

ReadyWorks is seeking an IT Hardware Asset Manager to own the tracking, auditing, and lifecycle management of the organization's hardware inventory in NYC. The role focuses on maintaining the asset system of record, performing audits, and may include hands-on imaging, tagging, deployment, and decommissioning when needed.

You will gather requirements from project teams, manage asset requests and returns, report on inventory health, and drive improvements in a small, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Experience owning asset data accuracy through audits and reconciliation.
• Hands-on hardware work including imaging, tagging, deployment, and decommissioning.
• Ability to gather requirements from stakeholders and turn them into a plan.
• Familiarity with asset management or DCIM systems (ServiceNow) and ticketing (Jira).
• Strong organization and communication skills; able to work independently in a small team.
• Comfort using AI tools to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own the accuracy of the asset system of record; run audits, reconcile discrepancies, and keep data trustworthy.
• Gather hardware requirements from project teams and convert them into a clear plan.
• Perform hands-on hardware work as needed, including imaging, tagging, deploying, and decommissioning.
• Manage full hardware lifecycle from intake to reallocation, refresh, and secure disposal.
• Help decide what to refresh, redeploy, or retire based on age, warranty, and end-of-life status.
• Report on inventory health and utilization; drive process improvements to raise accuracy and reduce cost.
• Handle asset requests, allocations, and returns with internal stakeholders and vendors.

Our client is seeking an IT Hardware Asset Manager to own the tracking, auditing, and lifecycle management of their hardware inventory. This role owns the accuracy of the asset system of record through regular audits and reconciliation, and may also involve hands‑on physical work, such as imaging, tagging, deploying, and decommissioning equipment, when needed.

To be clear on scope: you will own gathering requirements, keeping inventory data accurate, and making sound lifecycle calls, and you should be comfortable stepping in hands‑on when the work calls for it. This is an individual contributor role working alongside other technicians on the team, not a people‑management position, and you will not have direct reports.

What You Will Do

• Own the accuracy of the asset system of record. Run regular audits and reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and keep inventory data trustworthy.
• Gather hardware requirements from project teams and stakeholders, including quantities, specifications, timelines, locations, and disposal needs, and turn them into a clear plan.
• Perform hands‑on hardware work as needed, including imaging, tagging, deploying, moving, and decommissioning equipment, working alongside the rest of the team.
• Manage the full hardware lifecycle from intake and deployment through reallocation, refresh, decommissioning, and secure disposal, including chain of custody.
• Help decide what to refresh, redeploy, or retire based on age, warranty, cost, and end‑of‑life status.
• Report on inventory health, utilization, and outstanding actions, and drive process improvements that raise accuracy and reduce cost.
• Manage asset requests, allocations, and returns with internal stakeholders and vendors.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience owning asset data accuracy through audits and reconciliation.
• Comfort with hands‑on hardware work, including equipment intake, imaging, tagging, deployment, and physical inventory, ideally with data center or server equipment as well as end‑user devices.
• Ability to gather requirements from stakeholders and turn them into a clear plan.
• Proficiency with an asset management or DCIM system such as ServiceNow, plus ticketing tools like Jira.
• Strong organization and communication skills; comfortable working independently as part of a small team.
• Comfort using AI tools to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency.

Additional Details

Onsite in NYC, Monday through Friday. Long‑term contract role.
