Mercor, a San Francisco-based company connecting elite talent with AI research labs, seeks an Excel Expert — IT Manager for a remote, contract role paying $70–$100/hour. The position requires 5+ years in IT leadership using Excel daily and reliable engagement for 20+ hours per week.

As part of a contract engagement, you will guide research teams, design and evaluate Excel tasks, and collaborate with subject-matter experts to ensure high-quality training data.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in an in-house IT management or leadership role using Excel daily.
• Strong, hands-on Excel proficiency with nested formulas, lookups, PivotTables, dashboards, and analytical tools.
• Ability to engage reliably for at least 20 hours/week during weekdays.
• Verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• United States–based only.

Role Responsibilities

• Guide research teams to close knowledge gaps and improve AI model performance on Excel-based tasks within the IT management domain .
• Design realistic, domain-relevant Excel tasks from professional experience and write accurate, well-structured solutions.
• Evaluate Excel tasks and solutions, providing clear, written feedback.
• Collaborate with other subject matter experts to ensure consistency and accuracy in training data .

Qualifications Must-Have

• Strong, hands-on Excel proficiency with nested formulas, lookups, PivotTables , dashboards, and analytical tools. Experience with Power Query , Power Pivot , or macros/VBA is a plus.
• 5+ years in an in-house IT management or leadership role using Excel daily.
• Demonstrable career progression into senior IT management .
• Ability to engage reliably for at least 20 hours/week during weekdays .
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and interpersonal skills.
• United States–based only.
