Job summary

Mercor is seeking an Excel Expert to guide AI research teams in designing and evaluating advanced Excel tasks for training models in the Office/Retail Management domain. The role is remote, requires at least 20 hours per week, and demands robust Excel skills including formulas, PivotTables, data modeling, dashboards, Power Query, Power Pivot, and VBA.

You will work with researchers to craft domain-relevant tasks, assess solutions, and provide clear feedback.

Qualifications

Position: Excel Expert — Office / Retail Management Type: Contract Compensation: $70–$100/hour Location: Remote Commitment: 20+ hours/week

Role Responsibilities

Guide research teams to close knowledge gaps and improve AI model performance on Excel-based tasks within the Office / Retail Management domain. Design realistic, domain-relevant Excel tasks drawn from your professional experience, and write accurate, well-structured solutions. Evaluate Excel tasks and solutions and provide clear, written feedback. Collaborate with other subject matter experts to ensure consistency and accuracy in training data

Qualifications Must-Have

Demonstrated advanced, professional-level Excel expertise , including advanced formulas (e.g., XLOOKUP , INDEX/MATCH , dynamic arrays), PivotTables , data modeling, dashboards, Power Query , Power Pivot , and macros/ VBA . Hands-on professional experience applying Excel within the Office / Retail Management domain. Demonstrable career progression in your field. Ability to engage reliably for at least 20 hours/week during weekdays . Verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and interpersonal skills. United States–based only.
