Job description

The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end-to-end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning’s businesses through IT-enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Scope of Position:
  • This position will work with other team members to manage, modify, and develop computer systems required to manufacture optical fiber.
  • The position will also participate in or occasionally lead projects to meet the plant's objectives, drive cost reduction efforts and participate in capacity expansion efforts.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
  • Assist team of engineers to provide production support and troubleshooting for 24/7 manufacturing operation. Work with production associates, technicians, and engineers to ensure reliable equipment operation via automated control systems and user interfaces.
  • Support process and product optimization/improvement efforts.
  • Provide training for engineers and/or production associates as needed for new processes, equipment, or control systems.
  • Participate in capital projects.
  • Some after hour, on‑call support may be needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's in either Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 3-5 years in a technical role or relevant experience
Required Skills:
  • Technical background in an Engineering or Computer Science Discipline
Desired Skills:
  • Ability/experience integrating computers into manufacturing processes to increase efficiencies and lower cost.
  • MS Windows, iFIX, EthernetIP I/O, Microsoft Office. Real time controls systems, experience with motion systems (desired but not required), SCADA, Python
  • Ability/experience troubleshooting simple low voltage electrical circuitry
Soft Skills:
  • Able to communicate equally well with engineers, production associates, and managers
  • Able to work in a team‑oriented environment

Travel Requirements:
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required
  • 0-20%
Hours of work/work schedule/flex‑time:
  • Monday‑Friday 8AM - 5PM
  • Occasional off‑hours on call

The range for this position is $75,511.00-$103,828.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
