Job summary

Amarillo College is seeking an IT Instructor for Computer Information Systems to deliver engaging CIS coursework across in-person, hybrid, and online formats. The role emphasizes student success, culturally responsive teaching, and alignment with workforce needs.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in one or more of these disciplines.
• Doctorate degree preferred or Master’s with 18 graduate credits in related fields.
• Three (3) years of professional industry experience in software development, application development, or full-stack development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver effective instruction in programming and related subjects using languages and tools such as C#, Java, C++, JavaScript, Python, Visual Studio, PHP, .NET, MySQL.
• Plan, develop, and deliver instruction in classroom, lab, hybrid, and online environments; align coursework with industry needs.
• Maintain proficiency in instructional technologies and lab tools; teach day, evening, and online sections as assigned.
• Maintain office hours, provide tutoring and mentoring, and support students outside of class.
• Support student prep for industry certification and entry-level IT roles; complete administrative tasks on time.
• Collaborate with CIS faculty to align curriculum with industry standards and workforce needs.
