Job summary

Whitley Penn in Dallas is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to bridge business stakeholders and software teams, documenting requirements, BRDs, use cases, and acceptance criteria.

You will support Agile processes, coordinate UAT, and help refine backlogs while ensuring clear communication and effective validation across the SDLC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years as Business/Systems Analyst or similar role.
• Experience eliciting and documenting business and system requirements.
• Experience with Agile development and SDLC.
• Proven UAT planning and execution capability.
• Strong written and verbal communication; highly organized.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate meetings and discovery sessions with stakeholders to identify needs.
• Document BRDs, process flows, use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• Serve as liaison between business users and technical teams through SDLC.
• Clarify requirements and provide ongoing development support.
• Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, and reviews.
• Coordinate testing activities with business users and stakeholders.

Position Details

Title: Business System Analyst
Classification: Full-time; Exempt
Department: Information Technology – Software Development
Location: Dallas
Office Expectations/Hours: Hybrid position; general work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 hours/day between 8am to 5pm with overtime, as needed.

What You Will Do

• Facilitate meetings and discovery sessions with business stakeholders to identify business needs and objectives.
• Create and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), process flows, use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• Act as the liaison between business users and technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Clarify requirements and provide ongoing support to developers.
• Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
• Help maintain sprint backlogs and monitor sprint progress.
• Coordinate testing activities with business users and project stakeholders.

What You Need To Get Here

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or related role.
• Experience eliciting and documenting business and system requirements.
• Experience supporting software development projects using Agile methodologies.
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience planning and executing User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
