Job summary

Smithfield Foods in North Carolina is seeking an IT Business Analyst to serve as the key liaison between business users, IT teams, and external partners, translating requirements into practical solutions that improve efficiency and reliability across enterprise systems.

Responsibilities include requirements gathering, testing, process improvement, system implementations, training, reporting design, and cross-functional collaboration to drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact for business users on system-related issues, coordinating with IT and vendors to resolve incidents and improve performance.

• Support system implementations and upgrades with training, user sessions, and readiness activities.
• Manage priorities, timelines, resources, and provide updates to leadership.
• Provide application support including troubleshooting and data corrections with IT groups.
• Collaborate with partners to design reports and dashboards for decision-making.
• Work with cross-channel teams to share best practices and pursue improvements.
• Contribute to annual planning to align system enhancements with business objectives.

As an IT Business Analyst at Smithfield Foods, you will serve as the key liaison between business users, IT teams, and external partners to ensure technology solutions meet business needs. You will identify system enhancements, process improvements, and training opportunities while supporting system implementations, upgrades, and daily operations. In this role, you will combine business acumen, technical understanding, and strong communication skills to translate requirements into effective solutions that drive efficiency, reliability, and performance across Smithfield's enterprise systems.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Business Analysis & System Support: Act as the primary contact for business users on system-related issues, coordinating with IT and vendors to resolve incidents and improve performance.
• Requirements Gathering & Testing: Partner with internal and external stakeholders to define business requirements, develop functional specifications, and create and execute test scenarios for enhancements and new implementations.
• Process Improvement: Analyze existing business processes to identify automation opportunities and recommend innovative uses of technology to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Implementation & Change Readiness: Support system implementations and upgrades by developing training materials, leading user sessions, establishing super user forums, and ensuring business readiness for go-live.
• Project Management: Utilize project management skills to define priorities, manage timelines, allocate resources, and provide consistent progress updates to leadership.
• Application Maintenance: Provide application support including troubleshooting, data corrections, and coordination with IT support groups to ensure system stability and user satisfaction.
• Reporting & Analytics: Collaborate with business partners to design and develop reports and dashboards that support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-channel teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and share best practices across business units.
• Planning & Alignment: Contribute to the development of annual plans and strategies that align system enhancements with overall business objectives.

• Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to understand system capabilities, analyze data, and identify improvement opportunities to enhance performance and usability.

• Business & IT Liaison Experience: Demonstrated success in bridging business and technical teams through systems support, requirements gathering, and testing coordination.
• Leadership & Continuous Improvement: Proven ability to facilitate change, drive operational excellence, and promote a culture of continuous improvement aligned with Smithfield's values.
• Project Management: Experience managing timelines, deliverables, and resources across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
