Precision Castparts – SMP is seeking a co-op student to support automation and engineering education through hands-on assignments in Wickliffe, OH. You will apply classroom principles to real systems and gain progressive responsibility across projects.

The role involves working on automation components, PLCs, and HMIs, with opportunities for full-time employment after graduation. Housing or travel stipends may be available based on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Automation, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.

PCC Airfoils – SMP manufactures military and commercial turbine blades and vanes for aircraft and land-based applications using different materials and super alloys composed primarily of nickel and cobalt to cast the blades and vanes for gas turbine engines. Summary

The co-op student will be working on job assignments related to their automation or engineering education. These increasingly challenging assignments will provide an effective learning assignment for the student.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include

• The student will apply principles that he or she has learned in school to hands‑on situations.
• The student will be responsible for accomplishing performance goals and will receive progressive responsibility throughout his/her co‑op experience.
• Will identify and fix electrical and automation problems.
• Will attend and participate in weekly departmental meetings.
• Will take ownership and responsibility for identified projects.
• Participate on project teams for some assigned projects.
• Work within specifications provided to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
• Participate with peers, project team members, and other departments on new product development, product line extensions, and product enhancements.
• Will work on automation components, PLCs, and HMIs; troubleshooting hardware issues, electrical issues, and logic issues while configuring automation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electrical engineering
• Basic knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Basic knowledge of robotic programming a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, VB 6.0, C#, or VB.Net is a plus
• Good writing skills and interpersonal skills
• US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

• Student pursuing a degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.

Other Benefits

• $25.00 per hour/40 hours a week
