Job summary

The Employee Connect is seeking an IT Audit Director to lead technology audit coverage for cybersecurity, AI, and cloud in a regulated financial services setting. This role reports to senior leadership and the audit committee in a hybrid Reston environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive IT audit experience in financial services, strong executive communication, and professional certifications such as CISA, CISSP, or CRISC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, accounting, or related field.
• Extensive IT audit or technology risk experience within financial services or consulting.
• Deep knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST CSF and ISO 27001.
• Hands-on experience auditing public cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
• Proven people leadership and executive-level communication skills.
• Active CISA, CISSP, CRISC, or comparable professional certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead risk-based internal audits of cybersecurity, cloud, and artificial intelligence programs.
• Develop the annual technology audit plan aligned to enterprise risk priorities.
• Evaluate model governance, data controls, and responsible use of AI solutions.
• Assess cloud security architecture, identity management, and third-party technology risk.
• Manage and develop a team of IT audit managers and senior auditors.
• Present audit results and emerging risk themes to executives and the audit committee.
• Coordinate with regulators, external auditors, and second-line risk partners.

Shift/Schedule: Full-time, hybrid schedule with regular in-office days

Pay/Compensation: $175,000 – $239,000 per year

About the Role

A well-established financial institution experiencing rapid market growth is hiring an IT Audit Director to lead its technology audit coverage of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and cloud platforms. This leader will shape how the internal audit function evaluates emerging technology risk across a complex, highly regulated enterprise. The role offers visibility with senior executives and the audit committee, along with a hybrid schedule and strong long-term stability.

The ideal candidate has led technology audit teams in a regulated financial services environment and can translate complex cyber, cloud, and AI risks into clear business terms. You are comfortable challenging senior technology leaders and presenting directly to an audit committee.
