Job description

ABOUT NEW ENERGY NEXUS

New Energy Nexus (NEX) is an international NGO that supports climate solutions and builds a more equitable clean energy economy. Our laser focus is on clean energy entrepreneurs: providing them with funds, accelerators, and networks to thrive. They are our main audience and our agent of change.

We started in California in 2004 and now operate across China, India, Southeast Asia, East and West Africa, and Australia. We have leveraged US$5.4 billion in investment and supported more than 11,000 entrepreneurs.

ABOUT THE ROLE & OPPORTUNITY

NEX is looking for an IT Associate to support our global team’s day-to-day IT operations, with a particular focus on employees working across the Eastern Hemisphere.

This role combines hands‑on technical support, IT systems administration, and operational coordination. You will help ensure that employees have reliable access to the technology, systems, and tools they need while maintaining secure, efficient, and well‑documented IT processes.

Beyond resolving technical issues, we’re looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates clearly, follows through on commitments, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve IT operations.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a remote, international environment and can balance technical troubleshooting with strong organization, attention to detail, and process management.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for IT support requests across NEX, with a focus on employees in the Eastern Hemisphere.
  • Provide timely technical assistance and troubleshooting for hardware, software, operating systems, and collaboration tools.
  • Manage IT support requests through established channels, ensuring issues are properly documented, tracked, resolved, and closed.
  • Communicate clearly with employees regarding issue status, expected resolution times, and next steps.
  • Identify recurring technical issues and recommend practical solutions to improve the employee experience.
  • Administer and maintain business applications and collaboration platforms, including Google Workspace, Slack, Asana, Zoom, Dropbox, and other assigned systems.
  • Manage user accounts, access permissions, software licenses, and system configurations.
  • Conduct regular user access reviews and audits to maintain accurate and secure system access.
  • Support business‑critical IT activities, system improvements, and technical troubleshooting with minimal supervision.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify system requirements, resolve technical issues, and implement approved improvements.
  • Coordinate and execute IT onboarding and offboarding activities through established workflows.
  • Ensure timely provisioning, modification, and deactivation of employee and contractor system access.
  • Maintain accurate records of user accounts, permissions, assigned equipment, and completed IT tasks.
  • Coordinate with HR and relevant teams to ensure onboarding and offboarding requirements are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Support the procurement, configuration, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning of employee IT equipment.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues involving macOS and Windows devices.
  • Maintain accurate IT asset records and coordinate equipment requirements with employees, managers, and service providers.
  • Track and manage IT tasks, projects, deadlines, and follow‑ups using Asana or similar project management tools.
  • Maintain accurate IT documentation, standard operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and system records.
  • Proactively identify operational gaps, potential risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Implement routine IT tasks and approved improvements in accordance with established procedures.
  • Escalate issues requiring management approval or additional technical expertise.
  • Support the IT Manager and organizational leadership in implementing IT policies, security practices, and operational improvements.
  • Research emerging technologies and contribute recommendations relevant to NEX’s operational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience administering cloud‑based productivity and collaboration tools, particularly Google Workspace, Slack, Asana, Zoom, or similar platforms.
  • Working knowledge of SaaS administration, including user provisioning, access management, software licensing, and account maintenance.
  • Familiarity with IT onboarding and offboarding processes, including account creation, access modifications, and account deactivation.
  • Experience supporting end‑user devices, including equipment setup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and lifecycle management.

  • As the role supports NEX employees globally, occasional coordination with colleagues in other time zones may be required. Any adjustments to the regular work schedule will be coordinated in advance with the IT Manager.
  • Daily work, IT requests, and task coordination are managed primarily through Asana, Slack, and other NEX collaboration platforms.
