Job summary

University of Utah Health Care in Salt Lake City seeks an IT Asset Management Specialist to review, analyze and manage technology assets. The role supports the IT Manager over Asset Management and does not provide direct patient care.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and at least two years of end-user systems support experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to coordinate equipment transfers across campus and remote clinics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in help desk, systems analysis, and end-user support.

Responsibilities

  • Completes warehouse management.
  • Processes end of life equipment for transfer to University Surplus.
  • Processes repair equipment under warranty.
  • Receives new equipment delivered by vendors and freight carriers.
  • Affixes barcodes and safety stickers on new equipment.
  • Safety tests all equipment for leakage.
  • Images new PCs, laptops and thin clients.
  • Installs memory, hard drives, and other devices on computers and laptops.
  • Processes trouble tickets including contacting users and technicians for further details.
  • Destroys and documents hard drives from retired computers.
  • Prepares IT hardware for daily installs and projects.
  • Delivers and picks up IT hardware to/from assigned locations, hospital, and remote clinics.
  • Reassign assets in Altiris to correct user, location, and status.

This position reviews, analyzes and evaluates information technology assets. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the IT Manager over Asset Management in the management of technology assets for the organization. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Completes warehouse management.
  • Processes end of life equipment for transfer to University Surplus.
  • Processes repair equipment under warranty.
  • Receives new equipment delivered by vendors and freight carriers.
  • Affixes barcodes, blue, and green safety stickers on new equipment.
  • Safety tests all equipment for leakage with ohm meter.
  • Images new PC's, laptops and thin clients.
  • Installs memory, hard drives, dual video cards, and other devices on computers and laptops.
  • Processes trouble tickets including contacting users and technicians for further details.
  • Destroys and documents hard drives from retired computers.
  • Prepares IT hardware needed for daily installs and projects.
  • Delivers and picks up IT Hardware to/from assigned locations, hospital, and remote clinics.
  • Reassign assets in Altiris to correct user, location, and status.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Good driving record required to drive company van.
  • Proficiency in the various desktop operating system environments and basic desktop application suites, including word-processing, spreadsheet, and email.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated human relations and communications skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • A strong commitment to excellence in service.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience that includes help desk support, systems and business analysis, customer support and systems support efforts on all aspects of end-user systems.
