Job summary

Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) seeks an IT Applications Professional, Programmer Analyst to support campus-wide application training, user support, and enterprise technology engagement. This 100% onsite role reports to the Office of Information Technology and focuses on helping faculty, staff, and students use critical software tools effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Education, or related field.
  • Three years of hands-on experience in enterprise software application support, application administration, business application consulting, software implementation, or system monitoring.
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional and learning theory, training methodologies, and software training best practices.
  • Strong knowledge in the implementation, configuration, and support of enterprise applications, particularly Microsoft 365 and SharePoint.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical users.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver technical training across multiple modalities (classroom, webcast, online).
  • Create course outlines, job aids, and exercises to improve learning outcomes.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for employees and students with high-quality content delivery.
  • Update materials based on user feedback, app enhancements, and performance data.
  • Promote continuous technical learning to strengthen organizational capability and change initiatives.
  • Provide advanced (Level III) user support for complex software issues and performance improvements.
  • Coordinate software implementations, upgrades, and integration projects with vendors and IT teams.
  • Analyze business processes, develop functional specifications, and conduct system testing.
  • Translate complex technical information into accessible guidance for non-technical users.
  • Develop and manage internal/external communications regarding apps and training.
