Job summary

Lee County Port Authority is seeking an IT Applications Administrator to lead architectural design, capacity planning, and lifecycle management for enterprise applications at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers.

You will mentor IT staff and oversee critical platforms (AODB, FIDS, ERP, CAD) while guiding SDLC, security, and rapid service recovery in a hybrid environment. A CS/IT/MIS degree and 7–10 years of progressively responsible IT experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, with 7–10 years of IT systems administration or equivalent
• Must pass comprehensive background screening, fingerprinting, drug test, and obtain SIDA badge via TSA/STA processes
• Must pass FBI CHRC to hold CJIS clearance for access to airport security databases
• Subject to holdover, 24-hour recall, or varied shift rotations to support 24/7 airport operations

Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is an award-winning, medium-hub commercial service airport that served more than a record-breaking 11.1 million passengers in 2025 and is one of the top 50 airports in the United States for passenger traffic. Terminal Expansion projects are currently underway at RSW to improve the airport travel experience by consolidating the security checkpoints, adding concession space and providing passengers more amenities and options. In addition, a new Concourse E is being constructed with 14 gates, as well as other terminal, landside and airside improvements.

The Position

The anticipated annual salary for the ideal candidate is between $80,830 - $96,000

Minimum Qualifications

• A valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire and maintain an acceptable driving record
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), and a minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in IT systems administration, enterprise architecture, advanced application support, or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrate the ability to perform the duties effectively
• Must successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background screening, fingerprinting, and drug test. Must meet all federal requirements to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge through the SIDA training process and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment (STA)
• Must successfully pass and maintain an FBI Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) to hold unescorted Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance, enabling administrative access to Airport Police public safety databases
• Subject to holdover, 24-hour recall, or varied shift rotations (including nights, weekends, and holidays) as necessary to assist with emergency recovery operations and ensure continuous 24/7/365 airport operations

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design, capacity planning, and lifecycle management for enterprise applications. Develop technical roadmaps to modernize legacy systems, transition to cloud or hybrid environments, and align IT capabilities with the airport’s strategic master plan
• Serve as an escalation point for complex, high-impact application outages or performance degradation. Maintain technical ownership of mission-critical platforms, including the Airport Operational Database (AODB), Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)
• Provide technical guidance, code review, and mentorship to IT Applications System Analysts and junior staff. Establish best practices for the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), change management, and technical documentation

Knowledge of:

• Advanced Microsoft SQL Server administration, high-availability SQL clustering, query optimization, database security hardening, and enterprise database schema architecture.
• Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) methodologies, middleware architectures, secure API management (REST, SOAP), and ETL data movement workflows.
• Modern scripting and programming languages for automation, system integration, and rapid service recovery (specifically PowerShell, Python, and SQL).
• Comprehensive Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies, DevOps deployment pipelines, and advanced client/server and multi-tier application architectures.
