Job summary

Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY seeks a part-time IT A/V Services Technician to support instructional technology operations in labs and classrooms, assist with software needs and installations, and provide helpdesk coverage to faculty and students.

The role includes training users, supporting special events with A/V tech, and assisting in deploying new technologies and upgrading equipment. Occasional after-hours support is required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required.

Job description

The IT A/V Services Technician provides support for IT operational functions on an as-needed basis to instructors and staff. Support services may include assistance to special events support, assistance with equipment and software inventory/licensing activities, troubleshooting and problem resolution. In addition, the IT A/V Services Technician provides direct user support, training, and consulting in the use of classroom technology and peripherals including telepresence equipment.

Qualifications:

1. Educational Background: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree.

2. Experience: Experience with classroom technology and applications is highly desirable. Experience with presentation software and A/V equipment, and supporting and/or training instructors and staff, as well as creation of documentation, is also desirable.

Essential Functions:

1. Assists the Instructional Technology Managers in maintaining the functionality of instructional technology operations in labs and classrooms.

2. Assists with the identification and assessment of faculty software needs, development and testing of software installations, compatibility, and software loads.

3. Assists in the planning, installation, and maintenance of instructional technology systems at all campus locations.

4. Provides helpdesk coverage, on an as-needed basis, to include direct user support, and telephone support to employees and students institution-wide including campus centers. Provides referral of problems to appropriate IT area.

5. Assists with user training and/or provides direct one-on-one consultation as needed.

6. Participates in the IT area’s support of special events and presentations to include audio and visual technologies.

7. Provides after hours instructional services and special event support for FLCC sponsored events.

8. Participates, as needed, in the IT Division’s deployment of new technologies including hardware and software upgrade projects.

9. Assists with the training, supervision and direction of student aides.

10. Assists in the creation of IT user documentation.

11. Assists as needed in efforts supporting IT operations to include equipment inventory, software licensing and purchasing, routine maintenance activities and acquisition and provisioning of supplies.

12. Functions as an IT staff member, assisting with high priority Division operations on an as needed basis.

Benefits and Salary Range

1. Starting hourly rate is $20 - $23 and is commensurate with qualifications
