Job summary

Amity Foundation in California is seeking a Counselor I to deliver face-to-face rehabilitative programming as part of the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDTP). You will guide participants through relapse prevention planning and ensure attendance and completion of required assignments.

You will maintain accurate progress notes, confidential records and reports in ARMS, liaise with transition staff, and participate in ongoing training.

Qualifications

• DHCS‑approved registration with AOD certification within 5 years.
• Understanding of causes, symptoms and effects of substance abuse.
• Knowledge of contractual requirements of ISUDTP.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office and ARMS.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate CBI classes using evidence-based curriculum.
• Conduct individual and group sessions to develop relapse prevention/action plans.
• Engage participants daily and reinforce group norms and participation.
• Evaluate and document the progress of participants assigned to classes.
• Document delivery of CBI programming services in ARMS.
• Collaborate with CDCR/CCHCS headquarters, local institution, and CDCR staff.
• Lead meetings using motivational interviewing, CBT and other therapeutic processes.
• Assist participants in developing and implementing treatment/action plans and educate them about supportive networks.
