Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to support cybersecurity authorization efforts for the Navy's SMIT program. The ISSE will lead RMF/ATO activities, develop ATO artifacts, and coordinate with government teams to ensure compliant security controls.

This role requires US citizenship, DoD Secret clearance, and a Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years (or Master’s with 2) in cybersecurity or related fields. On-site in Virginia with a competitive pay range is offered.

Qualifications

• US Citizen with DoD Secret clearance.
• Active security certification meeting DoD 8570 IAT level III or higher.
• Bachelor's degree with 4 years of relevant experience or Master's with 2 years in Cybersecurity/Information Security/IT.
• Must understand RMF steps 4–7 and identify STIGs within a system boundary.
• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and DoD cybersecurity guidance is expected.
• Experience with RMF, ATO processes, and government SBOM/POA&M practices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as ISSE for ATO packages under RMF and RMF controls.
• Develop and review ATO artifacts; coordinate updates to assessment artifacts.
• Evaluate software/hardware for security controls per NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5.
• Submit cybersecurity artifacts to eMASS to achieve milestones (IATT/ATO).
• Ensure patch/compliance using ACAS/IAVA dashboards and Defender for Endpoints.
• Coordinate with local admins to resolve patching to meet timelines.
• Draft and maintain SOPs, TTPs, POA&M, and FISMA-related documents.
• Brief customer on cybersecurity status; collaborate with government Cyber team.
• Support site visits/audits and System Readiness Reviews.
