Job summary

Broadband Connect LLC is seeking a Network Engineer with 3+ years in ISP environments and fiber optic infrastructure. You will design, deploy, and maintain high-availability networks, troubleshoot Layer 2/3 and optical issues, and support service delivery operations.

The role requires hands-on Cisco/Juniper experience, familiarity with BGP/OSPF/MPLS, and capacity planning. Field work may require a valid driver’s license; a proactive, collaborative team player mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years hands-on experience as a Cisco or Juniper network engineer.
• Experience in ISP, carrier, or service provider environments.
• Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, STP.
• Familiarity with fiber optic technologies and OTDR testing.
• Experience with Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR and Juniper Junos.
• Ability to troubleshoot Layer 2/3 issues independently.
• Valid driver’s license if field work is required.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Monitor and optimize network performance including BGP/OSPF/MPLS.
• Support fiber optic infrastructure and OTDR measurements.
• Manage WAN/LAN circuits, VPNs, VLANs, QoS, and carrier interconnects.
• Conduct root-cause analysis on incidents and coordinate with vendors.
• Maintain documentation and diagrams (Visio/Draw.io).
• Assist in capacity planning, upgrades, and migrations (IOS/IOS-XR).
• Collaborate with NOC/ops to ensure SLA compliance and uptime.
• Implement network security best practices (ACLs/NAC/firewall policies).
