A regional ISP provider based in Pittsburgh is seeking an ISP Network Engineer to monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and administer core infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a technical field, over 7 years of relevant experience, and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively. Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of optical fiber characteristics and IP transport principles.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze network performance affecting end-customer connectivity.
  • Serve as an escalation point for technical support.
  • Administer ISP core infrastructure including routers and servers.
  • Design IP/Transport network solutions.
  • Lead and manage complex network projects.
  • Document and train teams on network systems.
  • Develop enterprise-grade ISP solutions.
  • Support the launch of new network products.

ISP Network Engineer

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze network performance and operational anomalies affecting end‑customer connectivity.
  • Serve as a high‑level escalation point for customer technical support and NOC‑reported alarms.
  • Administer ISP core infrastructure, including Juniper and Nokia routers, DNS, web servers, and email servers.
  • Design and implement customer IP/Transport network solutions, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Lead and manage complex network projects, including hardware specification, testing, proof‑of‑concept development, and scheduling.
  • Document and train Service Operations teams on network systems and operational procedures.
  • Develop enterprise‑grade ISP and Managed Service solutions tailored to customer requirements.
  • Partner with Sales Engineering to streamline project workflows and engage stakeholders on solution design and implementation.
  • Support the development and launch of new network products and services.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to explain and communicate complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build consensus across multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues.
  • Advanced experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python.
  • Experience with network automation platforms and processes is highly desired.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in networking, telecommunications, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of optical fiber characteristics and IP transport principles.
