Who We Are
At the Virginia Beach SPCA (VBSPCA), we believe every animal deserves compassionate care, comfort, and the opportunity to find a loving home. For more than 60 years, we’ve been serving the Hampton Roads community through animal sheltering and adoptions, affordable veterinary care, and humane education. Our mission is simple but meaningful: to eliminate animal suffering while increasing human compassion. Every member of our team plays an important role in bringing that mission to life.

Why You’ll Enjoy Working With Us
Make a Meaningful Impact
When you join the VBSPCA, you’re becoming part of a team that believes compassionate care can change lives — for animals and for the people who love them. Every day brings an opportunity to make a difference.

Be Part of a Collaborative Team
You’ll work alongside a team of dedicated animal welfare professionals who share your passion for animals and their well-being. We believe in supporting one another, sharing knowledge, and creating an environment where everyone can contribute and grow.

What You’ll Do
As Isolation and Foster Manager, you’ll lead a team of dedicated animal care professionals and help create an environment where our youngest and most vulnerable animal populations - puppies, kittens, and nursing mothers - receive the highest standard of care. Along with overseeing the daily care of these neonate populations, you will work closely with our community and other shelter partners to maintain and develop an active foster program. This is an active, hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys supporting a team, providing quality animal care, and making a meaningful difference in our community.

What We’re Looking For
The VBSPCA Shelter is a busy, fast-paced environment, and no two days are exactly alike. We’re looking for someone who:

• Has a genuine passion for animal welfare - Minimum of 3 years experience required
• Enjoys leading, coaching, and supporting a team - Minimum of a year experience in a leadership role
• Is organized, dependable, and able to manage competing priorities
• Has strong communication and people management skills
• Is comfortable working in an active shelter environment
• Takes pride in providing compassionate, high-quality care
• Works collaboratively with shelter, veterinary, and customer service teams
• Meets the qualifications outlined in the attached job description

What We Offer
We believe in taking care of our team, too! Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

• Medical, dental, and vision insurance
• Paid Time Off
• Veterinary care discounts for your furry family members
• Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for additional support
• Adoption discounts when you’re ready to add another member to your pack

This is a full time position at 40 hours per week with a Salary Range - $42,000 - $46,000 annually. Starting compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.

The VBSPCA Shelter is staffed 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our management team is expected to work at least one closing shift each week.
