Job summary

Heniff Transportation Systems is seeking an ISO container mechanic to inspect, maintain, repair, and refurbish ISO intermodal containers used for liquids, gases, chemicals, and dry freight. The role emphasizes safety and regulatory compliance in a depot environment in Illinois, with travel between depots as needed.

Key responsibilities include testing, repairing structural components, and ensuring adherence to IMO, DOT, and ITCO guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven mechanical experience in container, transportation, or logistics preferred.
• Excellent problem solving and attention to detail.
• Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces or at heights.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform periodic tests and in-service inspections on ISO containers to identify defects and necessary repairs.
• Identify and repair structural components such as frames, cladding panels, valves, gaskets, and seals.
• Repair tank systems, including piping, valves, and pressure relief devices on tank containers.
• Ensure repairs meet IMO, DOT, and ITCO guidelines and safety standards.
• Perform pressure tests and leak checks on containers carrying liquids or gases.
• Document inspections, maintenance, and repairs for regulatory compliance.
