Island Safety Manager (Senior Safety Professional)

You will support Disney Cruise Line Island Operations as a technical resource and will provide leadership, oversight, feedback, and development to the salaried and hourly Cast with the implementation, and sustainment of essential safety programs for the designated businesses in their areas. You will lead others in the identification, assessment, analysis and solving of a broad spectrum of safety issues across a diverse group of Disney Cruise Line operations.
You will report to the Principal Safety Professional with a dotted line to the Director Island Operations.
Provide safety and health support to both Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay
Interpret and apply safety and health programs, rules, and policies
Assist Operational Leaders in preventing injuries, reducing risk, and assuring compliance in their areas by integrating applicable, sustainable, and efficient safety processes into their businesses.
Assess Safety and Health performance through data review, incident history, and audits.
Promote necessary behavioral or environmental improvements, creatively and cost-effectively.
Help with Guest-related safety issues. Partner with different departments to help target improvements and reduce risks.
Participate in the project review process to promote safety and health improvements in design phases.
Know the importance of engaging appropriate partners on projects, plans, goal-setting.
Inform Operations Leaders and Safety & Health Leadership of safety and health local, global, and industry issues, and safety best practices that impact our performance.
Understand the business, its culture and challenges. Find opportunities to attend meetings, shadow leaders, and experience the work.
Understand the daily challenges in producing "safe outcomes" for the Cast. Understand the internal processes that can be used to incorporate safety and health plans.
Integrate appropriate safety and health messages into the existing communication vehicles. · Conduct necessary technical assessments and analyses to support the daily operations.
Conduct incident investigations
Attend Island Operational Leadership Staff Meetings
Establish and participate in Safety Committee meetings
Conduct site walks with Area Leaders; incident investigations; job safety analyses; slip tests, light tests, noise surveys as-needed
Oversee contractor safety performance of work being performed on the Islands.
Partner with the Safety and Health Programs Team to conduct indoor air quality investigations
Review safety scorecard and author quarterly trend analysis
Attend project review meetings and safety walks
5+ years of safety management experience.
Demonstrated ability to influence and guide leaders across diverse operational teams.
Strong knowledge of safety assessments, incident investigations, and compliance best practices.
Ability to manage multiple locations and travel 50–75% of the time.
Excellent communication and analytical skills.
Confidence in leading safety committees, presenting to leadership, and supporting cross-functional initiatives.
4-year degree in Occupational Safety or Safety Engineering
Advanced degree in Occupational Safety or Safety Engineering
Certifications: CSP, CIH, REHS, ARM, CPE, or PE
