Preferred Risk Insurance Services seeks an experienced iSeries Developer to maintain and modernize core RPG applications on the IBM i platform in Bedford Park, IL. The role involves developing, analyzing, and integrating SQL, APIs, and AI-assisted tools to upgrade critical systems.

You will work independently and within a team, engaging with IT and business stakeholders to define requirements and ensure high availability of key applications.

Qualifications

• Experience with full lifecycle delivery of complex systems.
• Strong knowledge of RPG IV/ILE, RPG Free, SQL with embedded SQL, CL.
• Experience with Visual Studio Code with IBM i extensions is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and support core business applications on the iSeries (AS/400).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and create specs.
• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and coordinate with IT for QA tasks.
• Create technical design documentation for projects.
• Maintain development standards and deployment processes.
• Contribute to modernization using SQL, APIs/web services, and AI.
• Assist with IT help desk tickets for production issues as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues for reliability.
