Job summary

SFM Services, Inc. is seeking a skilled Tree Care Manager to lead tree trimming, removals, emergency response, and debris hauling operations in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in tree care with supervisory experience, ISA Arborist certification, and strong leadership, safety, and communication skills. This role requires a valid driver's license and a commitment to safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of documented experience in tree care maintenance and at least three years supervising crews.
• ISA Certified Arborist Certification required; TRAQ preferred or to be obtained within 12 months.
• Must be trained in ANSI A300 and ANSI Z133 standards or a compliant program.
• Qualified Line-Clearance Arborist or able to obtain qualification per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269 and 1910.332.
• English required; Spanish is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong written and verbal communication.
• Must pass pre-employment screening including background check, drug test, and MVR.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Manage labor hours, equipment utilization, and production targets within budgeted hours and contract specs.
• Coordinate with utility providers for lines within the minimum approach distance; ensure OSHA and Line-Clearance requirements.
• Provide 24/7 emergency and storm response operations, including crew deployment and safety planning.
• Ensure compliance with municipal ordinances, permitting, and protected tree regulations.
• Train and evaluate crew leaders on ANSI standards and rigging techniques.
• Oversee maintenance and safe operation of tree equipment; ensure OSHA compliance.
• Delegate tasks and uphold safety procedures.
• Conduct JHAs, tailgate safety meetings, and incident investigations.
• Accurately track expenses, hours, and production metrics.
• Proactively resolve customer concerns and maintain client relationships.

This leadership role is responsible for overseeing tree trimming, removals, emergency response, and debris hauling operations. Key Responsibilities

• Manage labor hours, equipment utilization, and production targets to ensure work is completed within budgeted hours and contract specifications. Review job costing reports and implement corrective actions when performance deviates from targets.
• Coordinate with utility providers (e.g., Florida Power & Light or authorized line-clearance contractors) when work involves trees within the minimum approach distance of energized conductors. Ensure full compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269 and Qualified Line-Clearance Arborist requirements.
• Provide and coordinate 24/7 emergency and storm response operations, including crew deployment, safety planning, and communication with clients and municipalities.
• Ensure compliance with municipal tree ordinances, permitting requirements, and protected tree regulations. Coordinate inspections and maintain required documentation.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate crew leaders and climbers on ANSI A300 pruning standards, ANSI Z133 safety standards, proper rigging techniques, equipment use, and productivity expectations. Develop bench strength and succession within the tree division.
• Oversee inspection, maintenance, and safe operation of all tree equipment, including aerial lifts, chippers, stump grinders, chainsaws, and rigging gear. Ensure inspections are documented and OSHA compliant.
• Delegate tasks effectively, enforce company policies, and rigorously uphold safety procedures.
• Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), tailgate safety meetings, and incident investigations.
• Accurately track job expenses, hours worked, and production metrics.
• Proactively resolve customer concerns and maintain strong client relationships.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized job sites at all times.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of five (5) years of documented experience in tree care maintenance services and minimum of three (3) years of experience supervising tree crews or leading tree operations.
• ISA Certified Arborist Certification is required. ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) strongly preferred or must be obtained within 12 months.
• Must be trained in the American National Standards Institute ANSI 300 & ANSI Z 133 or a training program which complies with the requirements of the ANSI 300 & ANSI Z 133 standards.
• Must be a Qualified Line-Clearance Arborist or able to obtain qualification per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269 and 1910.332 requirements for work near energized conductors.
• Knowledgeable of native and non-native trees and palms.
• English is required, while proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
• Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on prompt and effective solutions.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced work environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods, digging and lifting heavy objects of up to 55lbs.
• Must be able to work in and around various landscaping settings including direct contact with various plant and landscaping materials and exposure to various dust and noise.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
