Job summary

Capstone IT is seeking an IS Engineer – Software (MuleSoft / Java Full Stack Engineer) to join an Agile team supporting our client’s Emerging & Strategic Solutions group. This role leads API design, development, testing, and integration of enterprise applications and data solutions.

Expect work across onshore and offshore teams, with emphasis on MuleSoft, Java API development, SQL/database integration, automated testing, and modern software-engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on MuleSoft and Java API development incl. API contracts and enterprise integrations.
• Proficient in SQL and relational databases (DB2, SQL Server).
• Cloud architecture and AWS deployment concepts (CloudFront); Azure exposure a plus.

IS Engineer – Software (MuleSoft / Java Full Stack Engineer)

Capstone IT is helping our client to find an IS Engineer – Software (MuleSoft / Java Full Stack Engineer) who will join an Agile engineering team supporting the company’s Emerging & Strategic Solutions business. This engineer will lead and contribute to the design, development, testing, integration, and modernization of enterprise applications, APIs, and data solutions. The position has a strong emphasis on MuleSoft, Java API development, SQL/database integration, automated testing, and modern software-engineering practices. The engineer will work across engineering, infrastructure, business, onshore, and offshore teams while helping establish reusable development patterns and scalable solutions. This is an estimated 12–24 month engagement, targeted to start around September 30, 2026, with an estimated conversion salary of $95,000–$125,000 if converted to a permanent employee.

Responsibilities

The engineer will develop and integrate APIs, applications, and data solutions supporting Life products and the Emerging & Strategic Solutions organization. They will participate in an Agile Release Train and may lead technical or architectural initiatives while collaborating closely with engineers, infrastructure teams, stakeholders, and distributed development teams.

The role includes defining API contracts and reusable engineering patterns; developing MuleSoft and Java solutions; integrating applications with enterprise databases; writing automated unit, integration, interaction, and end-to-end tests; conducting peer reviews and pair programming; producing technical documentation; creating user stories and acceptance criteria; investigating emerging technologies; optimizing applications for scalability and performance; identifying and escalating technical risks; participating in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives; and participating in an off-hours on-call rotation.

The organization expects engineers to take ownership of assigned stories, deliver approximately 85% of committed story points, achieve roughly 80–90% unit-test coverage, maintain high code quality, minimize reopened defects and production defects, and follow established security and engineering standards.

Qualifications

Candidates should have strong hands‑on experience with MuleSoft and Java API development, including API contracts and enterprise integrations. They should be proficient with SQL and relational databases such as DB2 and SQL Server, understand cloud architecture and AWS deployment concepts including CloudFront, and ideally have some Azure exposure.

The successful engineer should understand SOLID principles, automated testing, maintainable software design, Agile/SAFe practices, JIRA and Confluence, user stories and acceptance criteria, technical documentation, peer reviews, and pair programming. The position requires advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills, learning agility, strong written and verbal communication, comfort working independently with ambiguous requirements, and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
