The Crosby Club in San Diego, CA, seeks a Full-Time Irrigator to operate, service, and repair its complex irrigation system within a vibrant hospitality-focused property managed by Troon.

With a pay range of $25.00 to $28.00 per hour depending on experience, the role emphasizes preventative maintenance, system checks, winterization, and safe work practices, offering growth within a world‑class golf and club management organization.

Qualifications

• Certificate from college or technical school; or 3–6 months related experience or training.
• Ability to read and speak English may be required to perform duties.
• Regular and reliable attendance and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance on irrigation including lake and water features.
• Determines wet/dry areas and adjusts sprinkler heads.
• Inventory and stock irrigation parts to minimize downtime.
• Maintains pump station knowledge and repairs leaks in lines and valves.
• Operates, maintains, and repairs irrigation control system and electrical components.
• Keeps daily log of repairs and reports breaks to supervisor.
• Performs monthly sprinkler head checks across the facility.
• Winterizes and blows out irrigation system including lines and pumps.
• Maintains safe work practices and regular attendance.

Pay Range

$25.00 to $28.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)

General Purpose

Operates, services, and repairs the varied components of the irrigation system.

Essential Duties

• Performs preventative maintenance on the irrigation system including the lake re-circulation system and water features.
• Determines wet and dry areas for adjustments of sprinkler heads.
• Properly inventories and stocks all irrigation parts and tools in order to minimize down time.
• Maintains working knowledge of pump station maintenance requirements
• Operates, maintains and repairs a complex irrigation system, including leaks on the distribution lines, valve risers, electrical system, computer and irrigation control wire.
• Reports any serious irrigation breaks immediately to the Head Irrigation Technician or Superintendent and maintains a daily log of completed repairs.
• Prioritizes irrigation breaks and uses time efficiently.
• Conducts monthly checks of all sprinkler heads on the entire golf facility.
• Routinely inspects irrigation system components to ensure system is operating properly.
• Responsible for winterization and blowout of irrigation system, including all water lines, valves and pump stations.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Education/Experience

Certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience.

Physical Demands

Regularly stands and walks. Occasionally sits, climbs or balances, tastes or smells. Regularly uses hands; reaches with hands or arms; stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls; talks or hears. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Environment/Noise

Regularly works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and faces risk of electrical shock. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals; fumes or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally works in extreme cold or heat (non-weather).
