Job description

Job Title: Irrigation Technician II (LCON)

Location: TAMU - 600 Agronomy Road, College Station, TX 77843. Note: online applications accepted only.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. More details upon interview.

Requirements: Valid Driver's License and 1 year of irrigation experience.

Pay Range: $13.00 - $17.50 per hour

Job Summary

Performs routine labor related to irrigation management, including digging, pipe repair, head/valve replacement, and small equipment operation. Uses math and estimation skills for irrigation audits and calibration.

Essential Duties

1. Repairs underground sprinkler and drip systems, including malfunctioning heads and nozzles.
2. Adjusts spray heads for proper coverage.
3. Implements and adjusts irrigation schedules as directed.
4. Replaces valves and pressure control devices; adjusts water flow.
5. Replaces PVC lateral lines and other supply lines.
6. Inspects irrigated areas for malfunctions and coverage issues.
7. Installs and modifies irrigation systems per plans or blueprints.
8. Prepares sites with trenching or hand digging.
9. Handles PVC pipes, fittings, valves, and sprinkler heads.
10. Backfills trenches and levels soil.
11. Operates equipment like trenchers or small tractors.
12. Maintains records of work performed.
13. Ensures safety hazards are mitigated.
14. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Two years of irrigation repair experience.
• Valid State Irrigation Technician License.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to operate irrigation equipment.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds repeatedly and kneel/bend/stoop for extended periods.

Working Conditions

• Physical labor with extensive driving, walking, and equipment operation.
• Exposure to weather, pesticides, fertilizers, pollen, paint, and petroleum products.
• Work time: 90% physical labor, 10% training/miscellaneous.
