FOCAL POINTE OF OKLAHOMA is seeking an Irrigation Technician to inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair irrigation systems for residential and commercial properties in the Oklahoma City area. This full-time, outdoor role requires a valid driver’s license and may involve travel up to 30% within our service area.

You will troubleshoot leaks, faulty controllers, and electrical issues, perform seasonal start-ups and winterizations, install components, and optimize water efficiency while documenting

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior irrigation, landscaping, or related field experience preferred.
  • Irrigation certification is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and commercial irrigation systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues including leaks, electrical faults, controller failures, and damaged components
  • Perform seasonal start-ups, system winterizations, and routine system tune-ups
  • Install and repair irrigation components including sprinkler heads, valves, piping, and controllers
  • Program and adjust irrigation controllers to optimize system performance and water efficiency
  • Conduct system inspections and preventative maintenance checks
  • Travel up to 30% within the service territory
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Complete service reports, documentation, and work orders accurately and timely
  • Communicate effectively with customers and Focal Pointe management regarding system status, repairs, and recommendations
  • Work across a variety of job sites, including large commercial properties and residential locations

Job Summary:

An Irrigation Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing residential and commercial irrigation systems to ensure efficient water distribution and overall system performance. This role includes troubleshooting issues such as leaks, broken sprinkler heads, faulty valves, wiring problems, and controller malfunctions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Irrigation Technician does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and commercial irrigation systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues including leaks, electrical faults, controller failures, and damaged components
  • Perform seasonal start-ups, system winterizations, and routine system tune-ups
  • Install and repair irrigation components including sprinkler heads, valves, piping, and controllers
  • Program and adjust irrigation controllers to optimize system performance and water efficiency
  • Conduct system inspections and preventative maintenance checks
  • Dig trenches and access underground piping as needed for repairs and installations
  • Map irrigation zones and ensure proper system coverage and functionality
  • Load, inspect, and maintain tools, equipment, and materials for daily work
  • Complete service reports, documentation, and work orders accurately and timely
  • Communicate effectively with customers and Focal Pointe management regarding system status, repairs, and recommendations
  • Work across a variety of job sites, including large commercial properties and residential locations
  • Travel up to 30% within the service territory
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems, including mechanical, plumbing, and basic electrical components
  • Ability to read and interpret irrigation layouts or maps
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This position is primarily based in an outdoor work environment and is a full time role. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Flexibility may be required depending on workload and seasonal demands.

Overtime, evening hours, weekend work, and travel may also be required. A valid unencumbered driver’s license is required this position.

QualificationsEducation and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior experience in irrigation, landscaping, or a related field preferred
  • Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of soil types, vegetation, and water requirements is a plus
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Irrigation certification (e.g., industry-recognized) is a plus
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands listed below are representative of those required for this position.

This role requires the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and to stand, walk, and move for extended periods of time. The position involves regular use of hands to handle tools, equipment, and materials, as well as the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.

Employees must also be able to bend, twist, stretch, kneel, and reach on a regular basis while performing repetitive motions throughout the workday.

The role requires operating machinery and tools that demand precise control, maintaining the visual ability to see details at both close and moderate distances, and having the ability to understand and communicate verbally.
