Job summary

City of Odessa – Parks & Recreation Department is seeking an Irrigation Supervisor to oversee daily irrigation maintenance for City parks, fields, and public grounds. You will supervise crews, inspect systems, and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

The role requires hands-on leadership, knowledge of backflow prevention, and adherence to state regulations. Work is performed outdoors and indoors as needed, with physical activity involved.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Three years irrigation system maintenance experience required.
• Texas CDL required.
• TCEQ Licensed Irrigator certification required.
• Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certification required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect parks and irrigation systems; identify leaks, coverage issues, and maintenance needs
• Prioritize projects and supervise irrigation maintenance crews
• Adjust irrigation schedules to ensure water efficiency
• Test, repair, and maintain backflow prevention devices and irrigation components
• Create and manage work orders; review daily activity and material usage reports
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper equipment use
• Respond to emergency events and perform technician duties as needed

Education

Texas CDL

TCEQ Licensed Irrigator
