Job summary

UC Irvine is hiring an irrigation technician to lead and direct repairs, maintenance, and installation of both manual and automatic irrigation systems on campus. The role requires working knowledge of irrigation controllers and related equipment, with experience using MaxiCom central control systems.

The successful candidate will inspect, repair, and adjust valves, controllers, and sprinkler heads, ensuring reliable operation across campus grounds.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and skill to operate commonly used grounds equipment and tools.
• Demonstrated ability and skill to repair, install, and maintain irrigation systems.
• Skill in operating trenchers, tractors, roto-tillers, and other commonly used power-driven grounds equipment.
• Knowledge and ability to determine material requirements and estimate project costs.
• Valid California driver's license.
• 1–3 years of experience in irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair, including hands-on experience with manual and automatic systems, electrical control systems, and Maxicom systems.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain and install irrigation systems.
• Inspect systems, repair and adjust controllers, automatic and manual valves and complex sprinkler head. Knowledge of MaxiCom central control system.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and work with facilities management to ensure reliable irrigation operations.
