Job summary

City of Myrtle Beach is seeking an Irrigation Specialist to design, install and maintain irrigation and drainage systems across highways medians, parks and city landscapes. You will manage controllers, pumps, valves and piping, keep as-built plans, and operate heavy equipment as needed.

The role requires at least a high school diploma with vocational training in electrical/plumbing and 3 years of irrigation experience. A valid driver’s license and weekend/overtime availability are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with vocational or technical training in electrical and plumbing trade areas.
• Three years of experience in irrigation systems, plumbing, and landscape maintenance.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Installs and repairs controllers, heads, piping, valves and valve boxes, backflow prevention devices, wiring, and irrigation pumps for turf, landscaped areas, and trees.
• Repairs sprinklers, irrigation pipes, irrigation wires, and irrigation pumps.
• Installs and maintains drainage systems, measures and cuts pipe; installs and maintains drip irrigation systems.
• Reads blueprints to locate pipes and wires; installs and maintains irrigation systems.
• Specifies materials, prepares orders, picks up supplies and materials.
• Operates backhoe, trencher, dump truck, sod cutter, riding mower, utility vehicle, and related equipment.
• Supervises and inspects work of assigned personnel; trains team members in proper techniques.
