Job summary

IMI Industrial Services Group in Juliette, GA is seeking a full-time Ironworker/Structural Welder local to the area. Candidates will assist with installing, dismantling, and moving machines and components, interpret drawings, and direct crane operations, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Experience in structural welding and rigging is required or preferred, with NCCER/AWS certification. The role requires physical ability to work outdoors and in confined spaces, with potential PEMB-related

Responsibilities

• Assist with installing, dismantling, and moving machines, conveyors, and other equipment.
• Interpret structural drawings and align components.
• Direct cranes, rigging, and positioning of steel.
• Weld and bolt structural members per drawings.
• Maintain safety and use PPE during shifts.
• Perform welding under extreme conditions and inspect for defects.
• Coordinate PEMB erection as a plus.

Job Summary

IMI is seeking a full-time Ironworker/Structural Welder local to the Juliette, GA area.

Essential Functions

• Assist senior employees with installing, dismantling, and moving machines, conveyors, and other equipment.
• Interpret structural drawings.
• Understand and perform crane Signaling procedures.
• Align and bolt structural steel members in position for permanent riveting, bolting, or welding into place per structural drawings.
• Understand and perform Proper Rigging techniques.
• Direct cranes to move structural steel components and other materials onto and around the construction site.
• Connect steel columns, beams, and girders with drift pins to align the holes in the steel with the framework holes.
• Drill and/or ream holes into steel for bolting.
• Number steel according to assembly instructions.
• Unload and safely stack steel on cribbing.
• Position steel with connecting bars and spud wrenches.
• Use plumb bobs, levels, and laser equipment to check alignment and elevations.
• Welders should be able to pass an all-position SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) exam.
• Welder should be able to conduct welding operations under intense conditions such as extreme heights, confined spaces, and inclement weather.
• Troubleshoot structures to identify and initiate repair of welding defects.
• Identify and repair damaged coatings during installation (Painted and Galvanized).
• Pre-engineered Metal Building (PEMB) Erection experience is a plus.

Education and Experience

• 3+ years' experience
• NCCER or AWS certification or completion of a related program through an accredited technical school is preferred.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push-pull, lift, grasp, twist, and bend for extended periods of time.
• Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects.
• Lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lifting items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.
• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, including times of inclement weather.
• Manual dexterity needed for repetitive tasks and to operate standard operating equipment.
• Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close-quarters performing analysis and repair work.
• Must be highly safety cautious and have ability to see and escape from dangerous situations.
• Ability to climb a ladder and step into various pieces of equipment.
• Good physical fitness, eye-hand coordination, and ability to quickly respond to sounds.
• Good sense of balance and ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
• Ability to wear PPE correctly for working shifts.
