Qualifications

• Welding certificates demonstrating ability to pass required tests.
• Ability to understand and apply varying levels of mathematics for the role.
• Must speak and understand English in oral and written form.
• Knowledge of machines, tools, and their maintenance.
• Knowledge of proper rigging and signaling.
• Familiarity with transit, laser level, torque guns and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read specifications and blueprints to determine locations, quantities, and sizes of materials.
• Verify alignment of structural-steel members using plumb bobs, lasers, transits, or levels.
• Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts following blueprints and supervisor instructions.
• Hoist steel members into place using cranes and signaling.
• Bolt structural members in position for riveting, bolting, or welding.
• Field assemble metal frames, columns, beams, and girders per blueprints.
• Position structural-steel members for final attachment by pushing, pulling, or prying.
• Cut, bend, and weld steel pieces with appropriate equipment.
• Safely operate and maintain lifts, welding machines, torches, saws, grinders, and hoists.
• Report unsafe practices or conditions, and monitor fluid levels for machinery.
