Job summary

Gardner-Watson Decking, Inc. seeks an Ironworker – Sheet Metal Decking Technician to install and weld metal decking on steel structures nationwide. You will lay out and secure decking, perform welding and shear stud installation, and operate a variety of tools with emphasis on safety and precision.

Expect 100% nationwide travel, full-time hourly employment on daytime shifts. Projects span multiple states; you’ll meet safety, quality, and schedule requirements while contributing to durable, safe

Qualifications

• OSHA 10‑Hour Construction Safety certification preferred.
• Welding certification preferred.
• Capable of lifting 75 lbs and working above 40 ft.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, and attach sheet metal decking to steel structures.
• Perform welding and shear stud installation per project requirements.
• Operate hand, power, pneumatic, and powder-actuated tools safely.
• Maintain tools/equipment and report issues promptly.
• Record daily time and attendance accurately.
• Follow OSHA, customer, and company safety guidelines.
• Assist with additional site tasks as assigned.

Join Gardner-Watson Decking, Inc. and help build steel-framed structures across the country. In this role, you’ll install and weld sheet metal decking and complete shear stud installation while upholding rigorous safety standards on every site.

Travel & Schedule

• 100% nationwide travel is required; you’ll move to the next city/state as projects conclude.
• Full-time hourly position on daytime shift only.
• Hours vary with job site demands and seasonal conditions.
• Projects located in GA, NM, TX, LA, VA, AZ, SC, MD, and beyond.

Who You Are

• Reliable and safety-focused with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Capable of lifting 75 lbs and working above 40 feet.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather.
• Experienced with construction tools, including powder‑actuated equipment.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
