Job summary

MWH Constructors, a global leader in heavy civil construction of water and wastewater facilities, is seeking an Ironworker/Rebar Worker to join our Austin, TX project. The ideal candidate will have strong rebar installation and fabrication skills and ensure concrete structures are properly reinforced.

Essential duties include positioning and securing steel bars, bending with tools, cutting mesh, reading blueprints, and assisting other craft workers on site.

Qualifications

• Certification in rebar installation or related field is a plus.
• Ability to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs., may be up to 100 lbs.
• Must be able to communicate to safely perform work.
• Work may be sedentary to heavy; endure varied conditions.

Responsibilities

• Space and fasten rods in forms according to blueprints using wire and pliers.
• Position and secure steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms using fasteners and hand tools.
• Place blocks under rebar to hold the bars off the deck.
• Bend steel rods with hand tools and rod bending machines.
• Cut and fit wire mesh or fabric using hooked rods and position fabric or mesh in concrete to reinforce concrete.
• Cut rods to required lengths using metal shears, hacksaws, or bar cutters.
• Assist other craft workers as needed.

The ideal candidate w ill have a strong understanding and rebar installation and fabrication. Ensuring that all con crete structures are reinforced effectively. This individual plays a crucial role in the construction process at our Austin, TX project.

Essential Functions

Basic Qualifications

• Certification in rebar installation or a related field is a plus.
• Must be able to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs., but may occasionally push/pull, lift, or carry up to 100 lbs.

• May operate hand and power tools (electric, gas, and pneumatic) of all types
• Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
• Position may require prolonged bending/twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, squatting, pushing /pulling, or standing and lifting.
• Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc.
• May be required to work in confined spaces.
• Will be exposed to adverse weath er conditions (Heat, Cold, Rain, Etc.)
