Job summary

Turner Industries in Kingsport, TN is seeking an experienced Ironworker to join a crew responsible for raising, placing and uniting girders and other structural-steel members. The role is non-exempt, reports to the Foreman, and involves following established procedures and safety rules on site.

Essential qualifications include 1–4 years of ironworker experience, tool knowledge, and rigging skills. NCCER may be required on some sites, plus post-offer screenings and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• 1–4 years of ironworker experience, depending on mechanic level.
• Knowledge of ironworker tools and how to use them.
• Rigging skills including wire rope slings.
• Some job sites may require NCCER certification.
• Post offer drug/alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the company policy.
• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Unload deliveries of structural material from the fabricator.
• Set up and break down hoisting equipment for raising/placing steel members.
• Bolt, align and place steel members; verify alignment during assembly.
• Operate or guide hoisting equipment, and ensure final positioning.
• Follow supervisor directions and complete assigned tasks safely.

Turner Industries Group is seeking an experienced Ironworker for a position in Kingsport, TN.

The Ironworker position works as a member of a crew to raise, place and unite girders, columns and other structural-steel members to form completed structures and frameworks. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.

• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)

Functional Requirements

Off loads deliveries of structural material from the fabricator; sets up and breaks down hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-steel members; fastens steel members to cable of hoist; signals worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel member; guides member or rides on member in order to guide it into position; pulls or pries steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device; forces members into final position; aligns holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member; verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members; bolts aligned members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted; cuts steel members to make alterations; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Compensation

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement
