Ironworker Journeyman – Structural Job Summary
As a key member of our construction crew, you'll play a vital role in preparing and constructing structural members to receive and support their intended structural load. If you're a motivated and skilled ironworker looking for a new challenge, we want to hear from you.
Ironworker Journeyman - Structural Responsibilities
- Prepare and construct structural members to receive and support their intended structural load
- Handle various tools, equipment, and materials at the worksite
- Adhere to all project safety procedures and policies
- Supervise and train Structural Ironworker Helpers
- Set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members
- Install members into final position using turnbuckles, sleever bars, porta powers, and hand tools
- Align holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member
- Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of members using Bazooka bobs, lasers, and levels
- Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and structural members during installation
Physical Demands:
- Climbing: caged ladder, 20-25’ increment, up to 150’
- Crouching and Reaching: for up to 5 minutes on even, uneven, and narrow surfaces
- Kneeling and Reaching: for up to 5 minutes on even surfaces
- Squatting: for up to 5 minutes on even and uneven surfaces
- Overhead Work: from various positions - squatting, standing, crouching
- Trunk Rotation: from standing or kneeling
- Walking: throughout the day on even and uneven surfaces up to 500’
- Grip: 60#
Ironworker Journeyman - Structural Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as an Ironworker Journey - Structural or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, erection, and welding techniques
- Excellent physical condition, with the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Proficiency in OSHA regulations and safety protocols
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical documents
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
