Position Summary

Assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed and work under immediate supervision. Responsibilities and requirements vary depending on experience and assigned job step.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Learn to read specifications or blueprints to determine material requirements.
2. Assist in fabricating metal parts such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
3. Assist with unloading and positioning prefabricated steel units; operate cranes or signal operators to lift and position steel members.
4. Verify alignment of structural steel using plumb bobs, lasers, transits, or levels.
5. Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces using appropriate tools and equipment.
6. Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy materials or equipment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with relevant experience preferred.
• Knowledge of tools, safety procedures, and craft discipline.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and communicate effectively.
• Experience in the craft discipline.

Requirements:

• Ability to move around a construction/industrial site constantly.
• Work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
• Work irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays.
• Use ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical platforms safely.
• Move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Possess required tools and possibly a US driver’s license.
• Follow all safety and project rules.
• Pass drug, medical, and background checks.
