Role Description The Ironworker Foreman role at Steelco Erectors LLC is a full-time, on-site position based in Columbus, OH. The Ironworker Foreman supervises ironworker crews in the erection of structural steel, bar joists, reinforcements, and metal decking, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and according to plans and specifications. Daily tasks include organizing and assigning work, coordinating heavy equipment usage, reading and interpreting blueprints, and verifying layout and alignment of steel components. The foreman monitors site safety, conducts toolbox talks, oversees material handling, and collaborates with project managers, general contractors, and inspectors to maintain schedules and quality standards. This role also includes troubleshooting field issues, mentoring crew members, and maintaining clear communication across the job site.

Qualifications

• Strong supervisory skills with experience leading ironworker or construction crews, including task planning, delegation, and performance oversight.
• Proficiency with heavy equipment commonly used in steel erection (such as cranes, aerial lifts, and forklifts) and familiarity with rigging and signaling practices.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with crew members, site leadership, and external stakeholders, and for providing clear instructions and feedback.
• Background in carpentry or structural framing is beneficial, with the ability to understand building layouts, connections, and support systems.
• Basic maintenance skills to help ensure tools, equipment, and hardware are kept in safe, reliable working condition.
• Extensive experience in structural steel erection, including bolting, welding (if applicable), installing decking, and working at heights with appropriate fall protection.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop details, and specifications, with strong attention to detail and quality control.
