Job summary

Austin is seeking a skilled Journeyman steel erector to read blueprints, set up hoisting equipment, and correctly assemble girders, columns, and other structural members on site in Texas.

You'll guide lifts, align holes, drive drift pins, and ensure temporary alignment before welding or bolting. Prior 3-5 years of journeyman experience and valid state driver's license preferred.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints and selects required material for construction.
• Sets up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.
• Fastens steel members to cable of hoist, using chain, cable or rope.
• Guides structure being lifted into proper position and aligns rivet holes with corresponding holes.
• Drives drift pins through rivet holes.
• May assist in lifting, positions and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
• Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment using plumb bob and level.
• Bolts aligned structures to keep them in position until permanently riveted, bolted or welded into place.
• Other duties as assigned.
