Job summary

King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort in Hawaii is seeking a Cook 2 for a temporary, full-time role from October 1 to October 14, 2026, during the IRONMAN World Championship. The position pays $29.70 per hour and requires 2–3 years of hotel or restaurant cooking experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Shifts run Oct 1–14, 2026, with duties across fry, broiler, pastry, and other kitchen stations. English proficiency or bilingualism is preferred; TB clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two to three years of hotel culinary or restaurant cooking experience.
• TB clearance card required.
• English speaking or bilingual.

Responsibilities

• Prepare hot and cold items according to recipes and hotel specifications.
• Maintain friendly, cheerful service and communicate effectively with guests and team members.
• Perform duties across multiple stations as needed (cook, butcher, baker, pastry, etc.).
• Assist in supervising and training junior cooks and support other departments as required.
• Adhere to management instructions and contribute to department performance.

Brief Summary of Job:

During IRONMAN World Championship period of October 1 - October 14, 2026: Responsible for the preparation of hot/cold items according to recipes and specifications set by the Hotel.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:

• Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times, while providing personalized service to hotel guests.
• Communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members.
• Functions may include the following: fry cook, butcher, baker, broiler cook, breakfast cook, meat cutter, pastry cook and day cook.
• Substitutes and/or relieves cooks assigned to junior stations.
• Assists in the supervision and/or training of lower rated cooks.
• Provide assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and hotel.
• Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

Knowledge/Education/Experience:

Minimum of two (2) - three (3) years of hotel culinary cooking or restaurant cooking experience that includes advanced culinary skills. High school or equivalent education. TB clearance card required.

Skills/Abilities/Other Requirements:

English speaking or bilingual. Ability to prioritize, organize and make good judgments. Ability to maintain good team member relations. Dependable.
