BOTH SHIFTS AVAILABLE

SECOND SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL

JOB SUMMARY:

Fabricate, erect, and dismantle structural steel bridge framework according to engineered drawings and blueprints, performing such work consistent with corporate mission, values, and departmental financial objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Setup hoisting equipment, raising and placing structural-steel members, with basic rigging knowledge for raising and placing structural steel members.
  2. Fasten steel members to the cable of hoist, using chain, cable, or rope.
  3. Signal worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel members.
  4. Guide member, using tag line, to position it correctly.
  5. Pull, push, or pry steel members into approximate position while supported by hoisting device.
  6. Force members into final position, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, and hand tools.
  7. Align bolt holes in steel members using drift pins or spud wrenches.
  8. Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of members using plumb bob and level.
  9. Bolt align members to keep them in position until permanently bolted or welded.
  10. Cut and weld steel members to make alterations using oxyacetylene welding equipment and supplies.
  11. Load, transport, unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  12. Lift, position, and secure materials and workpieces during installation.
  13. Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
  14. Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
  15. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic reading and mathematical skills.
  • Some mechanical skills from experience with manufacturing or construction, including reading a tape measure and using power and hand tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to stand continuously, with occasional walking and sitting. Tasks involve pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 100 lbs), climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending, and handling. Repetitive motions and awkward positions are common. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work near moving mechanical parts and machinery. Conditions may include outdoor or indoor environments, exposure to fumes, airborne particulates, electric shock, UV light, open flames, sparks, and noise requiring hearing protection. Use of PPE is mandatory.
