Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Iron Technician I in Midland, Texas. You will assemble and test mechanical components, handle iron starts to finish, and support inspections and inventory management. The role emphasizes quality, safety, and hands-on shop work with potential overtime.

The position requires minimal experience but offers a path to more complex tasks and tools like the SPM AMP System. Relocation is not offered; schedule is 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with rotating shifts and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to operate hand tools such as hammers and screw drivers.
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming iron starts to finish. Able to accept equipment from delivery, recertify equipment, load equipment for delivery, complete all associate paperwork, perform quality checks, and manage inventory.
  • Assists Iron Technicians during the disassembling phase.
  • Clean, strip and inspect all required flow control components.
  • Prepare flow control products for Gauging, Ultrasonic, and MPI inspections.
  • Demonstrate the disassemble of flow control products per SOP.
  • Identify SPM and Customer product.
  • Assemble flow control products.
  • Inventory incoming iron.
  • Provide proper care and maintenance of all shop tools, equipment, and work area.
  • Monitor daily work activities to ensure requirements are met.
  • Perform other routine duties as assigned.
