Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Midland, Texas is seeking an Iron Technician I to assemble and test mechanical components. You will process incoming iron starts, certify equipment, load for delivery, and maintain accurate paperwork while upholding quality standards.

The role requires 3–6 months related experience or training; overtime and rotating schedule; starting pay of $23 per hour with potential for higher pay based on experience. Benefits include medical, 401(k), HSA, and PTO.

Qualifications

  • Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is desired but not required.
  • Ability to operate hand tools such as hammers and screw drivers.
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming iron starts to finish; accept equipment from delivery, recertify equipment, load equipment for delivery, complete all paperwork, perform quality check, and manage inventory (without supervision).
  • Assists Iron Technicians during the disassembling phase.
  • Clean, strip and inspect all required flow control components.
  • Prepare flow control products for Gauging, Ultra Sonic, and MPI inspections.
  • Demonstrates disassembly of flow control products per SOP.
  • Identify SPM and Customer product.
  • Assemble flow control product.

Job Summary

The Iron Technician I provides assembly and testing of various mechanical components.

Additional Information
  • Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.
  • Starting Pay: $23, additional based on experience
  • Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, currently working 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM, rotating schedule 10 days on 4 days off
  • Overtime based on business need, weekends as needed
What You Will Do
  • Process incoming iron starts to finish. Able to accept equipment from delivery, recertify equipment, load equipment for delivery, complete all associate paperwork, perform quality check, and manage inventory (without supervision)
  • Assists Iron Technicians during the disassembling phase
  • Clean, strip and inspect all required flow control components
  • Prepare flow control products for Gauging, Ultra Sonic, and MPI inspections
  • Ability to demonstrate the disassemble of flow control products per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Ability to identify SPM and Customer product
  • Ability to assemble flow control product
  • Nondestructive Testing Trainee (NDT Trainee)
  • Manifold tear down/rebuild trainee
  • Demonstrates computer skills for the SPM AMP System
  • Inventory Incoming Iron
  • Provides proper care and maintenance of all shop tools, equipment, and work area
  • Monitors daily work activities to ensure requirements are met
  • Performs other routine duties as assigned
What You Will Have
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is desired but not required
  • Demonstrate consistency, accountability, reliability, and solid work ethic
  • Ability to operate hand tools such as hammers and screw drivers
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas equipment
Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
  • Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department
Work Environment
  • Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration
  • Noise Level: Moderate
Summary Pay Range

$23.00 - $30.75
