Job summary

University of Colorado Boulder is seeking an IRB Chair to provide scientific, ethical, and regulatory leadership for our biomedical IRB overseeing human subjects research across sleep medicine, physiology, psychology, and engineering. The role guides reviews in accordance with federal rules, institutional policies, and state/local requirements, while promoting participant protection.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and meeting facilitation skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply research regulations and institutional policies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with IRB processes and human subjects protections.

Responsibilities

• Preside over convened IRB meetings and ensure orderly, objective, and efficient conduct of Board business.
• Review research protocols involving human participants from various fields.
• Promote compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies.
• Foster a culture of ethical research and participant protection.
• Ensure IRB deliberations balance scientific merit, participant welfare, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and support investigator submissions and educational outreach.
